Georgia's Daniel Harris Arrested on Misdemeanor Driving Charges in Latest Traffic-Related Incident

University of Georgia running back Daniel Harris was arrested Monday on misdemeanor driving charges, per a press release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.

This comes just three months after he was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop in Columbia County.

Details of the Incident

According to the police report, officers responded to a call about a possible drunk driver on Barnett Shoals Road around 2:30 a.m. Upon arriving on the scene, officers made contact with Harris, who they say was behind the wheel of a 2020 Dodge Charger.

Officers administered a field sobriety test, which Harris reportedly failed. He was then arrested and charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane, and underage possession of alcohol.

Harris was booked into the Clarke County Jail and later released on bond.

University Responds

The University of Georgia released a statement shortly after the news broke, saying that they are aware of the incident and are gathering more information.

"We are deeply concerned about the allegations against Daniel Harris," the statement said. "We will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate action as needed."

Previous Incident

As mentioned, this is not the first time Harris has been involved in a traffic-related incident. In February, he was arrested for DUI and failure to maintain lane in Columbia County.

Harris was suspended from the football team for the first two games of the 2023 season as a result of that arrest.

It is unclear at this time what disciplinary action, if any, the university will take against Harris following this latest incident.
